English as a Second Language Diploma

Program Description

Certificate in ESL Program is based upon the communicative approach of language learning. Class themes are student-centered, and the curriculum is structured to ensure students develop the necessary basic skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking to progress to the next level of study. The curriculum is composed of 6 levels of study, dividing beginner, intermediate and advanced courses based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks.

Learning Objectives

• Upon completion of the program, students will be able to demonstrate and apply their ability to read, write, listen and speak English, and will be able to pass IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 575
• Directly apply to diploma/graduate transfer program between Royal Bridge and partner universities without having to provide additional language scores such as TOEFL or IELTS

• Students who successfully graduate from Royal Bridge College ESL Level 6 with an average of at least 75% will be eligible to apply directly to transfer programs at Royal Bridge College and partner universities. This policy is valid for all authorized degree programs or graduate programs

Please Note:

Students who enroll in RBCo’s ESL program which is six months or less in duration or for which tuition is less than $4,000 cad may not make a claim against the Student Tuition Protection Fund, which is managed by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills & Training. Further, this language program may not have been reviewed or approved by PTIB.
